Le May re-signs!

Defender Brandon Le May has re-signed with Gold Coast United for season 2019 looking to press for a regular starting spot. Having joined the club in its inaugural season in the Queensland National Premier Leagues, Le May is keen to lift the bar on his own and the team’s performance in United’s second season.
The 21 year old, originally from the Central Coast, is very optimistic about the squads chances in 2019.
“We were a new club in 2018 so it was difficult at times, we all hadn’t played together before which made it hard to really gel.”
“But this season the squad’s shaping up really well. Everyone’s been sharp at training and in the games we’ve played we’ve looked solid all over the park. We were missing a few players too so the signs are good.”
“The new lads that have come in have gelled really well, they understand the culture we’re trying to build at the club.”
“And Kristian’s been unreal, he’s played at the top level so there’s no doubt he has the experience and the lads are really warming to his coaching. We’ll be in good shape physically and mentally we’ll be well prepared under his guidance.”
In a season interrupted by injury, Brandon chalked up 10 first team appearances in 2018 and after a strong off-season and an impressive display in the club’s first pre-season outing the defender is set for a strong start to 2019.
The robust, wide-defender began his football at the Kanwal Rovers in 2003 before a switch to the Central Coast Mariners Academy in 2012. After three seasons with the Mariners, including a stint in the their National Youth League squad in season 2015/16, Le May joined Manly United in the New South Wales NPL where he spent three seasons before heading north to join Gold Coast United.
According to coach Kristian Rees, “Brandon’s been fantastic and worked very hard throughout preseason.”
“He’s a great character to have around the club.”
“After an injury scare to his wrist he’s now back on track to be a strong player within the squad.”
Le May is pragmatic about season 2019, knowing that if he continues to work hard his chance will come and he’s ready to grab the opportunity with both hands.
“For me I just want to stay injury free which will give me the chance to be consistently in the starting side.”
With three tough pre-season matches locked in for January, Le May and his fellow United players will be in prime shape for the season opener on the 2nd of February.
That Round 1 match away to Moreton Bay is followed by a mouth-watering home encounter with the 2018 premiers and champions, Lions FC. Kick-off for round 2 on February the 9th is set down for 5pm at United’s new home, Coplicks Family Sports Park, Tallebudgera.
