GCU V Roar QAS – NPLW Rd15 Preview

ย

The Gold Coast United Women are on the road this weekend away at Logan Metro where they face the Brisbane Roar QAS.

After two draws in their last two matches at home the Women will be out to break that sequence and return to winning ways against the young Roar.

United players to watch

Nadine Keast has taken a little time to adjust to the pace of the NPLW after arriving on the Coast from Mackay but recently she’s found her legs and produced some telling impacts for the women which included scoring her first goal for the club. Blessed with plenty of pace, the experienced attacker will be out to disrupt the young Roar defence and create some opportunities for herself and her fellow attackers.

Roar QAS at a glance

The totally revamped David da Silva’s squad is yet to hit its straps in 2019 although they have produced glimpses of what’s in store in the future. Charlotte Farmer & Jorja Thompson stand out in attack with four goals apiece. Former United midfielder Lua Suero will be out to impress against her old side and will need to watched. The hugely impressive Jamilla Rankin is another to keep an eye on if she starts.

Past Encounters

United prevailed in Rd2 at Coplicks 2-1. Dee Thompson and Jayde Lowe were on the score sheet that day. In season 2018 the Roar NTC took the points in both matches, a 2-0 victory at Lex Bell Oval (Surfers Paradise) in Rd7 and a comprehensive 4-1 win at Logan Metro late in the season when the young Roar were on a roll towards their Championship win in last season’s grand final.
