United v Mitchelton – NPLWQLD Rd18

United Women will look to extend their eight game unbeaten run when they face Mitchelton in the re-scheduled Rd18 match at Coplicks tonight.

After six wins on the bounce, United head in to this one quietly confident especially after taking all the three points when these two sides met recently in the re-scheduled Rd 5 fixture away at Mitchelton.

A consistency of performance is something that the Women have been working hard on to achieve. With a relatively settled formation and United’s goals coming from a range of players in recent weeks, the formula looks like it’s starting to take shape as the ladies continue their surge up the Women’s National Premier Leagues Queensland ladder

United players to watch

Momo Hayashi has been a revelation at the heart of United’s defence since her arrival from the Okayama Yunogo Belle club in Japan. With an innate ability to read play and the speed, strength, guile and skill to capitalise, Momo’s made many telling contributions both defensively and in attack this season scoring 7 goals. The second of our Japanese lades who’s a joy to watch.

Mitchelton at a glance

The Mick Matthews coached Mustangs started their 2019 campaign with a win but have struggled since and sit 10th on the ladder after a 7th placed finish in 2018.

The Mustangs have only scored 19 goals in 2019. Tahnai Annis leads the goal tally with 8 for the season. Defensively Mitchie have shipped a stack, conceding on average close to 4 goals per game.

Past encounters

United prevailed 5-2 in the recent re-scheduled fixture at Teralba Park. In 2018 Mitchelton proved to be a bogey team for United, taking the points in both matches, a 4-3 win in Rd1 and a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Station Reserve.
