United Women V SWQ Thunder – NPLWQLD Rd20

The Women will be looking to extend their undefeated 7 game streak when they welcome the Thunder to Coplicks. The ladies have chalked up five wins on the trot scoring scoring 24 goals for and only 4 against.

United players to watch

A different role for the Californian this season sees Mackenzie Akins guiding the attack around the park. A weapon in front of goal in season 2018, Mackenzie’s causing more damage sitting a little deeper and creating a load of chances for her fellow attackers. If there was a tally for assists it would be big! The American still has nine goals to her credit this season and will be out to repeat her 5 goal haul against the Thunder in late 2018.

Thunder at a glance

Thunder sit at the foot of the 2019 NPLW competition and have yet to win a game. A squad stacked full of local talent has a nice balance of some experienced, familiar names including Melanie Lloyd and the Franke’s – Jordie and Madison – mixed win with some younger, emerging players. Louise Rolfe leads the scoring for the Thunder this season with 7 and at the back is the experienced Liz Hollitt in goals.

Past Encounters

United proved too strong in Toowoomba in Rd 7 winning 5-0. In 2018 United won the opener 8-1 at Gatton and repeated the dose at Station Reserve winning that match 11-2, with Mackenzie Akins scoring 5 goals.
