Week in Review
The ‘All Stars’ & a combined United NPLW girls squad, pre-match at Mudgeeraba
Another big week of ‘off-season’ with 2019 trials set to start tomorrow.
GCU Girls v Champs Cup All Stars
A combined United girls squad (main photo) played a social match against the Champs Cup ‘All Stars’ running out comfortable 4-0 winners on Thursday. Made up of players from the U13, U15 & U17 2018 squads, the girls showed glimpses of what we can expect in 2019. With the introduction of the U18 NPLW competition inext year, the future looks bright for this crop of talented players. Lots to look forward to from these girls in 2019.
Gold Coast Champions Cup
Congratulations to the GCU teams that participated, some top drawer results across the week. A massive well done to Mudgeeraba SC, the hosts, for putting on another great tournament and a shout out to the army of volunteers including the match officials.
W-League Trial Update
The hard work continued in Canberra this week for Deeanna Thompson & Cassie Zaffina as their push for a W-League spot gets down to the pointy end. With an announcement about final selections for a place in Canberra United’s 2018/19 squad imminent we wish both ladies the very best of luck with that.
National Team Futsal Championships
Several United players participated in this competition at Cornubia this week. Well done to those players who, by all accounts, acquitted themselves well.
Nthn NSW State SAP Championships
Well done to all players who competed and a special mention to Lauren Tyler (GCU U12 SAP) & Olivia Kane (GCU U13 NPL), members of the winning girls’ side.
