How did P3 get started and what was the trigger?
P3 really started from lived experience. Back in 2017, I was training for an endurance race and really struggled with the intensity of the program. I turned to recovery to help my body cope with the physical demands, but what surprised me was how much it helped mentally as well. My thinking was clearer, stress was easier to manage, my sleep improved, inflammation dropped, and I was simply a better human as a result.
That experience made something very clear to me, recovery and proactive wellbeing shouldn’t just be for elite athletes.
When the opportunity came to build P3, the goal was to give everyday people access to the same tools and education so they could manage their wellbeing proactively and perform better in everyday life.
Has sport played an important role in your family?
Absolutely, sport has played a massive role in my life and my family’s life. I grew up playing rugby and cricket, played representative sport as did my older brother, and was lucky to grow up in a big sporting family. My grandfather actually started a rugby union club in our province in New Zealand in the 1970s, and our whole family revolved around that club.
My father coached premier grade, my brother and I played premier grade, and weekends were spent around the club with uncles, cousins and friends.
It was competitive, but it was also a lot of fun and built lifelong values around teamwork, respect, discipline and community, all of which have strongly influenced what we’re building at P3 today.
As a business, how important is community to you?
Community is everything to us. Growing up in a rugby club environment showed me that the best communities bring people together regardless of background, status or circumstance. You had people from all walks of life sharing experiences, supporting one another and striving to be better together.
That’s exactly what we aim to create at every P3 location, inclusive spaces where people feel welcome, supported and connected, no matter where they’re starting from.
P3 isn’t just about recovery services; it’s about creating places where people belong and where wellbeing is something you do together, not alone.
We’re very honoured and excited to be part of the Gold Coast United club now, and look forward to playing our part in supporting and already thriving community.
When it comes to reputation, how would you like P3 Recovery to be known?
We want P3 to be known as grounded in science, expert-led, and genuinely community-focused. We’re not just a place with ice baths and saunas, we’re constantly learning, improving and evolving our offering so we can better serve our communities.
Long term, we want to create a lasting legacy as a global organisation that has a positive social impact on everyone we work with, our members, franchisees, staff, partners and suppliers.
If people live better, feel better and perform better because they’ve connected with P3 in some way, then we’ve done our job.
Ultimately, our aim is to be the world leader in what we do and one of the world’s greatest wellness communities.
